home sewn black dress and belt

Just whipped up this black dress to go with my super fab belt that I had made a little while ago. The awesome thing is, I found this fabric on sale for $1 a yard! So this dress cost me a little under a dollar to make and it was getting people looking, which can be a good or bad thing but I think it was good.

Project Runway has a Brother

Posted by admin in Uncategorized, Style, All Hype

Brother Sewing empire has hooked up with Project Runway and is releasing a “Project Runway Sewing Machine” coming in a pink colorway to attract a younger audience. The machine will run around a $300 price point. Awesome that Brother is looking into the future of sewing and trying to reach a younger audience but Pink? Half the contenders on Project Runway are men and I’m sure it has a huge male fanbase. So why make a pink machine? They should have chosen a more neutral color to both sexes. I’m more into a black machine. Now that’s not your grandmas’s machine! In the words of Paris, that’s Hot!

V neck sweaters to Cardigans

reconstructed cardigan

I found this v-neck sweater at a vintage store and recreated it into a button up cardigan. I know my grandpa would be jealous! If I had one. It’s very simple. Anyone can do this. Try it for yourself. You’ll be cool again with your hipster friends and grandpas.

Boyfriend Hoody

Hand sewn hoody for boyfriend

I bought a pattern to make a reversible hoody for myself. It was a Jr.Girls size pattern. I made one side with a tapestry and the other with a courduroy. It came out great, but big. Good thing my boyfriend really liked it. Lucky him!

V neck Tees

Hand sewn Tees

Find any jersey fabric you like and make some tees! American Apparel is great but you can go broke buying plain t’s from that hipster ho joint. Check these out. These are the first two shirts I had sewn and I finished them off with an overlock machine. You can’t even tell the differnce between these and factory made shirts.

Here’s a better look at the sleeve detailing:

Glam Belt made Easy

hand made sewn belt

Wow! So I found the greatest zipper and trim shop on W. 38th in midtown Manhattan. I was looking for a zipper and left with a bunch of other awesome finds. This belt I made with elastic I picked up there. It’s fabulous for glaming up any little black dress. Big belts are still in big time. This glittery belt is 3″ wide.

Hand sewn hoody style

Here’s the hoody below on the chicka it was made for. It is so cute on her! I think she was stoked.

Here’s a look at some of the details on the hoody:

I photoshopped a cliche NYC scene and heat transfered it to the fabric. I then did some embroidery detailing over top the transfer. They came out pretty sick. These photos don’t do it much justice. There’s one on the inside lining and one one the hood lining.
